Mediterranean Folk Cross Stitch Pattern - Byzantine Zoe
This stunning design from Avlea features ancient motifs including several kinds of stars and flowers, and a unique lozenge and rectangle with flourishes. Worked in a traditional colorway called the "zoe" or "life giving" colors, the predominantly featured bright coral red is associated with new life and Greek Pascha (Easter) as red-dyed eggs are integral to this celebration in Greece.
The photos show it worked as a 36-inch square on Legacy 30ct linen "Coconut", but it can be worked in any number of repeats you desire as either a square design (as shown in the photos) or as a runner on either end of a rectangle. Size and stitch count vary depending on how you choose to work the design.
Please note this is a pattern only. Fabric and thread are sold separately.
