Linen is a classic choice for cross stitch and embroidery. This Chalkboard Black linen is deep gray color that is a good alternative to pure black. It is the equivalent of DMC embroidery floss color #3799.
The fabric is 32 count. Linen is commonly stitched over 2 threads, which would give you 16 stitches per inch, the equivalent of 16-count Aida. You can also stitch over 1 thread for 32 stitches per inch.
