Data Portraits in Paris 1900 Cross Stitch Pattern

In 1900, W.E.B. Du Bois unveiled a striking series of hand-drawn charts and infographics at the Paris World Fair, capturing the African American experience for a global audience. This counted cross stitch design by Shaded Stitchery is an interpretation of that historic work, honoring both Du Bois's artistry and the vital data he preserved.

The design is available as a printed hardcopy pattern. If you want to get up and stitching quickly, save yourself the time of collecting all the supplies and purchase one of our bundle options which include the pattern along with fabric, thread, and needles.

Bundle options:

Pattern details:

  • Stitching area: 92 stitches wide x 92 stitches high
  • Finished Size: 6.6 inches x 6.6 inches on 14-count Aida or stitched over-two on 28-count linen
  • Black and white chart
  • Types of stitches: Cross Stitch
  • Model was stitched on 18-count Aida in Wren by Picture This Plus using threads by Classic Colorworks, Colour & Cotton, and Gentle Arts (DMC conversions provided)

The model for this design was stitched with overdyed thread and linen. Our bundles substitute DMC thread and standard Aida and linen. If you purchase a bundle, note that the finished piece will not have the same degree of color variegation as the model.
