Yes, the instructions are in Japanese! I figured it would be pretty intuitive but the fabric is double lengthwise so that you would fold it in half, and when finished stitch the side together so the stitches on the back are covered. I couldn't quite figure that much out with only the pictures. I took pictures and was able to copy the Japanese with the copy text from picture feature on iPhone and paste it into Google Translate .There are some awesome blog posts about how to get started with the thread and how to anchor the stitches so they are not obvious.
