William Morris Strawberry Thief Cross Stitch Bookmark Kit
This counted cross stitch bookmark kit recreates Strawberry Thief, William Morris's beloved pattern of song thrushes and ripe strawberries against a deep indigo ground. Morris was inspired by the thrushes that raided the kitchen garden at Kelmscott Manor, his country home in Oxfordshire. Stitched in DMC's high-sheen embroidery floss, the design takes on rich color and texture, and the finished bookmark is a lovely way to carry a piece of Arts and Crafts history between the pages of a favorite book.
This kit is made by DMC, the French thread maker that has been producing embroidery floss since the 18th century, in partnership with the V&A in London, one of the world's great museums of art and design. Morris was a designer, craftsman, and writer whose work led the revival of traditional British textile arts, and Strawberry Thief remains one of his best-known designs.
Kit includes:
- 14-count Aida fabric in 100% cotton, 15 x 30 cm (5.9 x 11.8 in)
- DMC six-strand embroidery floss, pre-sorted on a thread organizer

- Embroidery needle
- Instructions in English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, and Japanese
