The Lady and the Unicorn Cross Stitch Pattern

Our shop is closed for the holidays. You will be able to view prices and add products to your cart once we return on January 6.

.

In this refined cross stitch piece, Gera! designer Kyoko Maruoka revisits the fascinating theme of the Lady and the Unicorn originally pictured in a medieval French tapestry. In this interpretaion, the lady is picture elegantly seated on a unicorn surrounded by lush, abundant flowers. Two little rabbits play below in the grass while birds fly above.

The work is entirely covered with cross stitches, with a soft, red background adding a warm glow to the piece. As an alternative, you could omit the background stitches and instead use a colored fabric. Aida in coral would work well.

This design is available as a printed pattern. Get up and stitching quickly with the coordinating thread pack which comes complete with 30 full skeins of DMC cotton embroidery floss.

Pattern details:
  • Stitching area: 96 stitches wide x 107 stitches high
  • Finished size: 6.9" x 7.6" on 14-count Aida or 28-count linen
  • Types of stitches: Cross stitch
  • Number of colors: 30

Perfect

Love it … it’s a gift for my 6 year old grand daughter that she will never out grow. The pattern is well done and easy to follow.

Pattern does not include the border

The border is presented as part of this design in every picture (the red & blue flowers), but it is not part of the pattern!
Very disappointing, as the border provides necessary visual balance.
Good customer service though.

Dear AG,

Thanks for your feedback, and I'm sorry to hear the pattern did not meet your expectations. The outer border is actually not stitched. It is a length of ribbon the designer used in framing. I apologize if that was not clear in the images.

The fabric for this pattern is sold separately so you can use your preferred color (or something from your stash). The optional thread pack includes 30 full skeins of DMC floss, which is what determines the price.

Thanks again for sharing your feedback, and please reach out if there is anything I can help with.

Kind regards,
Susan
