This color card from DMC, featuring real thread samples, is a handy resource for any stitcher. The guide is made with actual strands of DMC's nearly 500 colors of embroidery floss. It also has thread samples for DMC specialty lines including their metallics and variegated floss.
Real-thread color cards have traditionally been hard to come by, but DMC republished theirs to include the 35 new thread colors introduced in late 2017. Because the color card features actual thread samples, you can be assured of its accuracy.

I've acquired tons of floss over the years, from my grandmothers' old supplies to making friendship bracelets in grade school to my own cross stitch projects, and a good portion of them weren't labeled because they're 25 years old or those adhesive labels don't stay on plastic bobbins well. With this I was able to figure out exactly what colors I have before starting my next project and buying more of a color I already have. Out of 40+ bobbins, only 2 didn't have a color match, so they're retired or not DMC.
Great experience, great product
Received the DMC Real Thread Color Card in quick order! It is excellent quality. I can see this being very helpful when putting together a "non kit" counted cross stitch project. Even my electrician husband was impressed with the quality and agreed it is a great reference tool.
Very helpful. Because I love 50+ miles from a craft store, the card is very useful in determining colors needed. I use it nearly every day.
