Kogin Embroidery Covered Button Kit - Floral Set 2

These pretty fabric-covered buttons are stitched with Japanese kogin embroidery. They are quick and easy to make, and so satisfying you will want to make a whole bunch!

Each kit comes with the material to make three covered buttons. Plastic button forms are included. Sew them onto clothing or bags, or add your own findings -- think magnets, brooch pins, or hair elastics -- to finish them as desired.

Kogin is a form of sashiko stitching that uses running stitches to create a repeating geometric pattern. Similar to pattern darning, kogin is quick to learn and fun to stitch! Kogin is a counted thread technique, so the pattern is not printed on the fabric like in other forms of sashiko. Instead you follow a stitching chart like you do in cross stitch.

Kit includes:

  • Linen fabric
  • Cotton kogin thread
  • Kogin needle
  • Three plastic button forms
  • Stitching chart

The instructions included in the kit are in Japanese only, but we have a detailed introduction to kogin stitching on our blog to get you started!
